EEDC Begins Load Shedding In Umuahia, Environs

The Enugu Electricty Distribution Company (EEDC) has embarked on load shedding in Umuahia and its environs, IWIN reports.

An authoritative source at the company’s head office in Umuahia on Friday indicated that the measure became necessary because of a substantial drop in electricity generation. “We are load shedding now in order to ensure that everybody gets power from the amount of energy allotted to us,” he said.

Mr Emeka Eze, the Head, Communications Department of EEDC, Enugu, also confirmed the development saying that the measure became necessary because of low power generation. He said that the company was allotted only nine per cent of the total energy generated at the national level; “so, our option is to resort to load shedding.’’
