Ex-Power Minister, Nebo Advocates Adoption Of Renewable Energy

Nigeria’s former minister of power, Chinedu Nebo, speaking in an interview, has urged Nigerians to embrace renewable energy resources in the country, stating that Nigeria’s abundant resources in solar power, wind and hydro-power could provide the needed succor to its epileptic power supply, Business Day reports.

Nebo said the effective application of the energy mix with particular reference to solar and wind energy would afford more Nigerians the opportunity of having easier access to power, without going through the constraints of epileptic power supply.

Nebo, sharing further his experience with a solar company in Nigeria’s capital Abuja, suggested to the Federal Government to ensure that most buildings and estates by the Ministry of Housing adopt a model of having links with solar panels to enjoy more access to electricity through sunshine.

The former minister also suggested to the government that it needed to pull more investments into its moribund dams across the country, and to ‎ensure that multiple turbines were put in the dams so as to generate more electricity into the grid.
