Instead of using unhealthy processed spices, turn to turmeric. You’ve probably heard some of its health benefits since everyone in the health industry is talking about it.
I didn’t know much about turmeric until last year, so in the past few months I’ve done some research and discovered its awesome health benefits.
So let’s look into some of the things that will happen to your body when you start using turmeric.
1. Cholesterol levels will go down
Having good cholesterol levels is good for your health. And research shows that turmeric can help reduce absorption of ingested cholesterol into the blood. One study concluded that blocking absorption of cholesterol can reduce blood cholesterol by almost 40 percent.
This simply means you can improve your cholesterol by adding spice to food.
2. Risk of cancer will reduce
So many foods have shown the ability to reduce a risk of cancer, and turmeric is no exception. It is specifically known to reduce the risk of cancer tumors.
3. Less respiratory problems
If you have any respiratory problems, like asthma, this natural component can improve your breathing. This study showed improved breathing in subjects who had asthma after they took curcumin for 30 days. So make sure you add it to your food or beverages.
4. Inflammation will reduce
Inflammation has been linked to so many health problems and diseases like heart disease, arthritis, diabetes and so on. So reducing inflammation will have a huge positive impact on your health. Well, numerous studies have pointed out that turmeric has anti-inflammatory effects. Note that many people have undiagnosed inflammation, so you should take it just to be safe.
5. Less pain
Pain has become part of our daily lives. Back pain, neck pain, knee pain, joint pain and so on. While most of it needs to be addressed further than just eating certain foods, turmeric will help reduce it. This can really help for folks with conditions like arthritis. Either way, make sure you see a physician if you have persistent pain.
6. Your heart health will improve
Reducing inflammation and cholesterol will definitely improve heart heath. In fact, a study found that inflammation reduced and cholesterol improved for patients who had coronary heart disease after taking curcumin for 8 weeks.
But research shows that turmeric doesn’t reduce inflammation and blood sugar for folks who already have heart disease. But it still helps lower cholesterol levels.
7. You’ll lose more weight
This is definitely a benefit most people want to hear. While turmeric won’t magically melt away excess fat, it enhances fat oxidation which makes it easier to lose fat. It also blocks hormones which trigger storage of fat, making it harder to gain weight.
8. Faster muscle recovery
Eating turmeric after a workout can help reduce soreness and faster recovery of muscles. This happens because of the fact that turmeric helps reduce inflammation.
There are two ways to take turmeric. You can take it in the form of capsules, or cook with it. Just add it to food while prepping your meals and you’ll enjoy all these benefits.
