A report ‘Measuring Global Migration Potential, 2010-2015′ has placed Nigeria and India as the countries with the highest potential migrants in the World.
The report generated by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) was arrived at through a global survey.
The survey shows that over 23 million adults worldwide are actively making preparations to migrate abroad.
Out of 193 countries observed in the survey, 20 were recorded to have the highest potential migrants; Nigeria topping, India coming second, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo third.
The most popular destination for those planning to migrate is the U.S. followed by the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, France, Canada, Germany and South Africa.
One in three adults surveyed plans to migrate to a developing country.
Half of those planning to migrate live in just 20 countries, including Nigeria, India and the Democratic Republic of Congo, the countries with the highest number of adults planning to migrate abroad.
West Africa, South Asia and North Africa are the regions with the largest migration potential.
