Acting President Yemi Osinbajo on Thursday visited Maiduguri on a one-day official visit to flag off a Special Relief Intervention Programme for the North-East.
His arrival was just a few hours after the terrorist group, Boko Haram, attacked the state capital, leaving many injured and some dead.
The acting president as received by the state governor, Kahim Shettima, and made straight for the IDPs camp at Dalori where he stated the FG’s commitment to rebuilding the city and aid their return to life pre-Boko Haram.
Osinbajo, who pointed out that his visit was at the instance of Prseident Muhammadu Buhari, said he was on a fact-finding mission to ascertain the state of security and of the inhabitants of IDP camps.
Done with the flagging off, Osinbajo left for the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) where the injured survivors of the Boko Haram attack were taken for medical attention.
He also visited Shehu of Borno in his palace to pay homage.
