Senator Dino Melaye (APC-Kogi West) on Sunday alleged that 30 of his supporters who refused to be used for his recall by the state government have been arrested.
According to the embattled lawmaker, the state governor, Yahaya Bello, had sponsored his ”Meleya” recall from the Senate with the sum of N200 million naira for each of the seven local government areas in the senatorial district .
The electorates in the seven local government areas that make up Kogi West on Saturday besieged polling units to endorse the request for the recall of the senator.
They affixed the photocopy of their permanent voter cards to the recall form.
Malaye alleged that the Governor is behind his recall threat, an allegation the state Governor has denied through his Chief Press Secretary, Petra Akinti-Onyegbule.
”Quote me, Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has released N200 million for each of the seven local government areas in my senatorial district to facilitate my recall from the Senate,” Melaye said.
The lawmaker, who stated this while addressing his supporters in Kabba on Sunday, boasted that the ongoing move to recall him will fail.
