Ethiopian Airlines Lands First At Renovated Abuja Airport

An Ethiopian Airline Airbus 8350 belonging to Ethiopian Airlines has landed in the Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport in Abuja, shortly after the Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika made the first landing on a test flight.

The aircraft touched down at the airport some minutes past 12pm.

It is the first major airline to do so, coming a day before the official reopening of the airport which the federal government says is 100 percent complete.

Firiehiwot Mekonnen, traffic and sales manager of the airline, had earlier said that the decision to fly the new aircraft to Abuja is because of the belief in the Nigerian market.

Ethiopian Airlines was the only foreign airline that made use of the Kaduna airport during the period that flights were diverted to it from Abuja.
