Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, on Friday, berated the management of the Federal University of Agriculture in Makurdi for their abysmal performances and inability to live up to expectations.
Obasanjo, who spoke in Makurdi when he led a team of the Zero Hunger Forum on a field visit to the institution, noted that the school is not doing enough research to make use of latest discoveries in agriculture.
The former president also said the institution has failed to boost own income by commercialising its products.
In the same vein, a former governor of Nasarawa state, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Senator Abdullahi Adamu (APC, Nasarawa West), who was part of the team, took a swipe at the institution for deviating from its core mandate of undertaking research that could usher in new developments in agriculture and by so doing generate revenue.
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state urged the institution to uproot the old palm trees and replace them with the latest varieties to improve income base.topics from
