One of the two aspirants of the All Progressive Congress( APC), for the Osun West Senatorial District bye-election has allegedly being disqualified.
According to the Daily Post, Senator Mudashir Hussein is no more in the running to pick the party’s flagbearer in the July 8 election.
Hussein, who is a serving Commissioner, lost his bid to be the party flagbearer after flouting the electoral rule that insists that contestants for an elective office must, 30 days before expressing an interest to contest, resign any public office they hold.
A five-man panel set-up by the party to screen candidates noted that he is a Commissioner still thereby leaving just one contestant of the five who picked up nomination forms on Friday. The other three had decided to step down.
The contestant still left to contest on the platform of the APC is Ademola Adeleke.
Due to his disqualification and the stepping down of the other candidates, the panel declared Adeleke unopposed in the forthcoming primary.
However, Hussein, in a telephone interview with our reporter debunked the information, describing it as a mere rumour.
It is not true, do not mind the rumour mongers, that section of the electoral law is not applicable in my own case, and that could only be valid if I am a civil servant.
Some people only submitted a petition accusing me of anti-party activities in the last Ondo election.
