Report: Day Signs Apparel, Shoes Deal With Nike

Nike might be out of the equipment space, but it continued to bolster its stable of stars by reportedly signing Jason Day to an apparel and shoe deal.

Day’s contract with TaylorMade-Adidas expires at the end of the year, but the world No. 1 re-upped with TaylorMade and will continue to use their equipment. Adidas announced in May that it was selling its golf business.

ESPN’s Darren Rovell reported that Day will make upward of $10 million a year to wear Nike’s footwear and apparel, including its hat.

A Nike spokesman said in an email to that the company does not comment on rumor or speculation. Day's manager did not return a message seeking comment.

The company announced last month that it was transitioning out of the equipment business but would continue to focus on apparel and footwear. Along with Rory McIlroy, Nike now has apparel deals with two of the top three players in the world, as well as longtime endorser Tiger Woods.
